Russian business ombudsman and leader of the Party of Growth Boris Titov reportedly visited the Krasnodar region on 17 March to present his Growth Strategy – a medium-term program of socioeconomic development of Russia. During his visit, Mr. Titov was quoted as making several important statements about the future of the Russian economy. For instance, he said that the national GDP would double by 2035 if Russia would be following his program. “One of the chief problems of our economy is reduction of investment profitability,” stressed he. “It doesn’t pay to invest – the expenses have considerably grown over the past few years, for the crisis began [much earlier] than in 2014… The government has to help business reduce its expenses.”
The Growth Strategy provides for the opening of centres of correct and efficient development guided by a ‘reform headquarters’ – a special organization charged with reform management.
“Public support is important,” said Mr. Titov. “No reform is possible unless it is backed by the population. We believe that our strategy will be working to the advantage of everyone – the population, the business circles, and the government. It is the latter that has in the first place to believe in the reforms – for now both federal and regional economy and finance experts overestimate the risks and disbelieve their own country.”
