The bilingual Russian-English weekly newspaper The Yug Times jointly with the Civic Chamber of the Krasnodar region, the Southern Regional Committee of the Association of European Businesses and Agency for Investments and International Partnership are resuming the renewed version of their program “Time for New Strategies”.
The first roundtable in the framework of the program was devoted to the issue of cooperation between the business circles, executive power and society aimed at the formation of the strategy of socio-economic development of the Krasnodar region for 2020 – 2030. The discussion was reportedly attended by high-rank governmental officials, entrepreneurs and top managers of a number of big companies representing the region’s business circles. The participants shared their practical experience in the development of the strategy of the regional socio-economic advancement and their real ideas and concrete proposals that will be used in the final document. In his speech, Vice Governor Igor Galas expressed his hope that that document will arouse interest of investors as well as general public, which is why it is the Kuban residents who must become the primary clients of the said strategy. The new electronic application Strategy-2030 to be developed within a month will give an opportunity to everyone to argue in favour or against it. The participants of the roundtable asked regional business ombudsman Igor Yakimchik to share with them the problems of the local entrepreneurs, and set forth these thoughts in the strategic plan. “As far as the current governmental approach to business is nothing else but constant checkups and inspections, the entrepreneurs cannot see any long-term prospects for their development,” stated Mr. Yakimchik. “What we have to do is to legally settle the issues of safe business conduct.” In his speech, General Director of the Southern Innovation Consulting Centre Vladislav Varshavsky was quoted as indicating the following key moment of the formation of the strategy: “When developing a regional development strategy, we have to enlist the services of investors in addition to those of the businesspeople, for our approach to the selection of potential business areas differs dramatically from the one accepted abroad.” Summarizing the discussion, Vice Governor Igor Galas thanked all participants of the roundtable for the frank discussion and assured them that all their proposals will be taken into consideration and studied. The next meeting in the framework of the program “Time for New Strategies” will reportedly take place in March.
