Education in the Krasnodar region is one of the best nationwide, which fact is proved by the victories of Kuban teachers in a number of national professional competitions: Aleksandr Shagalov from Armavir was awarded the title Teacher of the Year; Andrei Shevchenko, headmaster of School No. 98 in Krasnodar was acknowledged Best Principal. Such solid achievements would not be possible without support of the regional authorities. Shevchenko is confirmed that over the past decade, the teachers’ life level in the country has considerably grown, while the schools have become equipped with most state-of-the-art technologies.
We asked Andrei to tell about the headmasters’ contest.
“As for the materials which I prepared for the contest, it was all about the foundation of a school of the future with the help of new information technologies. In particular, one of my ideas was how to unite the electronic textbooks into one semantic system. “Currently, the system is lacking interdisciplinary integration and single complex.
“I want to believe that my and my colleagues’ groundwork will not remain unnoticed and will be applied in the educational process.
Q.: Have the schools changed over the past decade?
A.: Yes, they have changed a lot - I can’t be able to enumerate all the changes here.
“Lately, the financial backup of education has improved. You can see it by how the schools have become reequipped. Now every class has a laptop, printer and interactive board. All Kuban schools have websites of their own. I would distinguish such novelty as electronic diary - it’s a service helping the parents see their kids’ grades and themes of all lessons online.
Q.: How has your life changed after you were awarded the title of the best headmaster in the country?
A.: My victory became an additional promotion for our school. Now many parents are by hook or by crook trying to enroll their kids in our school. But - the school is located in a huge residential neighbourhood, next to Red Square Mall. We are overfilled, with 36 to 40 pupils per class, so very often I have to refuse their requests.
