Aleksei Kniazev, Director of the Krasnodar City Department of Trolleybuses and Tramways, has reportedly resigned from office, but it is not yet clear who will replace him.

During the two years of Kniazev’s directorship, electronic information boards appeared at the city’s trolleybus and tram stops, and the new three-section Belarusian-Swiss-made tram Metelitsa (The Blizzard) began to run in Krasnodar – however the other modern tram, Vitiaz (The Knight), has never arrived in the city. Meanwhile, Mr. Kniazev had for a while been the suspect of a criminal case, and neither city authorities nor urbanists could fulfill their promise to make most of the townsfolk change their private cars for public transport. It was in December 2014 when Aleksei Kniazev replaced Anatoli Panin, the long-term director of the city’s Department of Trolleybuses and Tramways. It was suffering big financial difficulties then, with a backlog reaching 600 million rubles.
