ЮГ Times. Last Saturday, Krasnodar was witnessing a remarkable event – the inauguration of a monument to Cossack Ataman Grigori Rashpil.
A three-metre-tall bronze figure on the granite-encased four-metre-high pedestal was installed at the intersection of Rashpilevskaya and Budenny Streets, next to the Tsentralny residential block. The inauguration ceremony was attended by high-rank Cossacks, regional and city officials, executives of the construction companies that had supported the construction of the monument, and numerous residents and guests of the city.
The monument was erected on the initiative of Aleksandr Remezkov, State Duma deputy, сhairman of the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE), supported by the Black Sea Financial Company and KubanStroiKompleks (Kuban Construction Complex), RUIE members.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Remezkov said: “There is a double holiday today: the Day of Kuban Cossacks and the 320th anniversary of the Kuban Cossack Host. And to commemorate this day, we tried to make our own contribution to the preservation of our historical memory to make it physically tangible.” The ceremony ended with a solemn marching of the Yekaterinodar detachment of the Kuban Cossack Host. Red carnations were laid at the monument.
