Yevgeni Golovko, a neurologist, told:
“Every age group has always had a list of commonest diseases – but now the situation is changing drastically: for instance, if in the past cerebral thrombosis also known as stroke occurred mainly with elderly patients, now the disease is getting younger.
“If in the near past only 4% of the strokes were registered in patients of 15 to 45 years of age, now the figure in this age group has reached 12 to 15%. It means that the frequency of this pathology has risen approximately 3 to 4 times with young patients. There are a lot of reasons to it: deteriorated environmental conditions, genetic factors, and often the wide-spread incorrect way of life (hypodynamia, smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc.).
“How can people protect themselves against stroke? There’s nothing unusual or magic I can say here – one simply has to lead a healthy way of life. If you want me to go into detail, it’s nutritional care, regular physical exercises, and denial from harmful habits.
