On Monday in Krasnodar, officials of the Russian Agricultural Supervision Agency crushed approximately 20 tons of apples imported from Poland.
When the police had stopped a refrigerator truck, its driver could not produce any documents for the freight he had been carrying. A check proved that it was fruit imported from Poland.
Polish-grown apples are known to have become one of the first targets of the Russian food embargo set up in August 2014 in reponse to the Western sanctions.
Ultimately, all 200 tons of apples were crushed by caterpillars at a waste disposal facility.
