The All-Russia Conference “Environmental friendly framework as basis for general plan of town development and its strategy” was held at the Kuban State University on April 20.
The conference was attended by students, public activists, experts and city hall officials. In his speech, Krasnodar Head Architect Igor Mazurok dwelt upon the construction of space convenient for human life and activities, in which parks, gardens, ponds and fountains should play a leading part.
Despite the prevalent meaning that scarcity of green zones is an attribute of the large cities only, the problem is much broader, stated Aleksandr Antonov, head project architect of Moscow-based Centre for Space Transformation:
“It’s a question of the system of values rather than scale. Some time ago, it was proclaimed that the main goal of our compatriots should be the number of square metres of the apartment they own”.
