Krasnodar, 2 July – Yug Times. A major upgrade to Goriachy Kluch’s ageing water infrastructure is under way, with 1 billion roubles allocated for improvements under a three-year modernisation programme.

The centrepiece of the works is the construction of a four-kilometre trunk water main, running from the entrance to the Kurort ny residential neighbourhood to Griboyedov Street. The 630 mm diameter pipeline will be laid along six streets and is expected to supply reliable water access to at least half of the city’s population. The existing pipeline, built several decades ago, is now in critical condition.

In parallel, a comprehensive overhaul of the city’s pressure pipe lines is progressing. In May, repair works began on the line connecting the Main Pumping Station to the treatment facilities. Last week, contractors commenced repairs on another section—from the District Pumping Station to a pressure-dissipation chamber located near the intersection of Transport naya and Ponomarenko Streets. This segment includes two 530 mm pipelines, with a total length of 1.6 km. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

Construction also continues on a second water main between the city’s primary water intakes, with new pipes being laid along Yaroslavsky Street.
