Krasnodar, 25 March – Yug Times. Since 2023, 521 illegal waste dumps have been closed in Krasnodar.
The figure was announced at a meeting of the city's centre for suppression of activities of illegal waste collectors.
“Much work has been done, a mechanism of interaction created, and good results achieved since this cross-sectoral agency was opened. The main thing is to act consistently, be on alert all time, so that everyone understands that punishment is inevitable for those who spoil the ecology and litter the city.
There should be a quick reaction to such facts, and then the system will work smoothly,” said Mayor Yevgeni Naumov.
According to Sergei Storchun, Director of the city's Department of Municipal Services and Fuel and Energy Complex, the removal of the waste dumps has made it possible to clear about 50 hectares of land.
More than 28,000 tonnes of waste were collected and taken to the landfill.
Together with the police, regular raids are carried out to uncover and suppress the facts of illegal transport of waste, as a result of which 167 vehicles of offenders were detained and placed in a special car park pending a court decision. At present, there are four vehicles held there.
