Krasnodar, 18 February – Yug Times. As of today, 138,000 tonnes of oil contaminated soil have been accumulated at the temporary site at Voskresensky village in the Anapa district.
Governor Veniamin Kondratiev reported at a regular meeting of the Government Commission that over 46,000 tonnes of sand had so far been sent for disposal. The weekly meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vitali Saveliev, focused on coordinating efforts to address the consequences of the emergency situation caused by the tankers wreck. In the Temriuk district, efforts are ongoing to remove the stern part of the Volgoneft-239 tanker. To date, over 240 tonnes of metal structures have been removed for disposal, accounting for almost 35% of their total volume. The works are scheduled for completion by 31 March.
Following the meeting, the governor reiterated the region's commitment to follow the directives of the Government Commission. He also highlighted the completion of over 32 kilometres of the protective embankment in Anapa, and the ongoing preparation of the work specification for design and estimate documentation for the restoration of the affected beach areas.
