Krasnodar, 28 January – Yug Times. Certification has been awarded to more than 200 tour guides and guides-interpreters in the Krasnodar region.

Certification is now required by the new federal legislation on tourist activity. As a result, specialists without state-recognised certification will no longer be able to provide services as tour guides or guides-interpreters.

The qualification examinations are provided by the regional Ministry of Resorts.

“To pass the exam, the candidates must be able to present a diploma or certificate of additional professional education, proving the completion of the entire curriculum. All certified specialists will be entered into a unified federal register. Those who have successfully passed the exam will receive an identification breast card,” said Mikhail Zaritsky, Acting Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage of the Krasnodar region.

To date, 213 individuals have been certified. Most of them work in Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik and Novorossiysk.

The badges, which feature a two-dimensional barcode, will allow the tourists to verify their guide's qualifications. The executive authorities will be entitled to impose fines on the persons who provide guiding services without mandatory certification.
