Krasnodar, 5 December – Yug Times. Sinkholes in the soil have reportedly paralysed high-trafficked Moskovskaya Street in Krasnodar.

Last Sunday, on December 1, specialists of the Krasnodar Water Service Company launched the collector on Moskovskaya Street. They had to repair the pipeline, pour about 8 cubic metres of concrete, and bring in over 300 cubic metres of sand and crushed stone to backfill the ditch that had been formed on the site, reported Oleg Shishkovsky, First Deputy Director of the Department of Municipal Economy and Fuel and Energy Complex. The repair works were carried out round the clock, and according to the plan they should be completed by the 5th of December. By Monday morning, December 2, the traffic of trams and personal transport on the sector from 40-letiya Pobedy Street to Zipovskaya Street was resumed, but immediately a new sinkhole was detected there. "Next to the previous sinkhole, a new depression on the same pipe was formed. Together with ‘the water service company, it is necessary to make a decision on how and along which route to lay a new collector," Mayor Yevgeni Naumov commented on the situation.

The sinkhole collapse occurred on the reinforced concrete pipeline installed in 1962.
