Krasnodar, 25 September – Yug Times. In the Kuban region, the construction of concrete roads may begin. Governor Veniamin Kondratiev saw this technology during his working visit to the Republic of Belarus. This approach to infrastructure development is widely used there.
"Life dictates the necessity to build modern highways so that to repair them as rarely as possible. In large cities, it is important that the highways be of high quality and durable. This is relevant for Krasnodar with its 1.6 million inhabitants, where it is difficult not only to build, but also to repair the roads when the traffic is very heavy," said the head of the region. "It is also important for the Krasnodar region resorts – we have 18 million holidaymakers coming to the region every year, 12 million of them by car.
The region's key highways lead to sea ports on the Azov and Black seacoasts, and they are under serious traffic load. Depending on the time of year, it exceeds the norms by 7–12 times. At the same time, in summer our highways start to literally melt down. All these factors affect their wear and tear. The volume of our road fund is 56 billion roubles, with the lion's share going not to the construction of new roads, but to the repair of the existing ones."
