Krasnodar, 2 September – Yug Times. It is reported that Sochi will resume projects to modernise its wastewater treatment facilities after a pause caused by restrictions linked to the city’s mountain and sanitary protection zones.
Following the Russian Health Ministry order issued in February 2026, the boundaries of the protected zones were revised, allowing full-scale design work to restart.
Updated urban-planning documents have now been sent to the contractor for the Ad ler-Kudepsta, Lazarevskoe, Yakornaya Shchel, Magadan and Dagomys facilities, while additional documentation is being prepared for the Bzugu treatment plant.
Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin said the authorities must now clarify project and survey timelines and resolve the outstanding legal and organisational issues.
Modernising the city’s wastewater system is crucial to environmental protection, including the Black Sea, and to improving the urban environment.
Municipal departments have been instructed to continue working with the regional administration and contractors to move the projects forward.
