Krasnodar, 7 November – Yug Times. Over the past five years, 240 sports facilities have been built and overhauled in the Krasnodar region.
The development of sports infrastructure was the subject of a meeting between Mikhail Degtiarev, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, and Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev held in Krasnodar's Unarmed Self-Defence Palace.
"The Krasnodar region is among the nation's top ten regions in terms of sports indicators. About 65 per cent of residents - or 3.4 million people - are systematically engaged in physical education. The region is in advance of other regions. This is largely due to the pace of construction of sports facilities. Today we visited the ‘Become a Champion’ Centre: it was built with off-budget money, but it receives a state assignment so that children can practice free of charge in ten sports," commented Mikhail Degtiarev.
Veniamin Kondratiev stressed that the region pays special attention to the development and availability of mass sports, without which high-performance sports are impossible; so all new sports facilities, including martial arts centres, offer free drills for children.
