The last session of the Adyghean Traffic Safety Commission was devoted to road accident rates.
According to the report delivered by Republican Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandr Rechitsky, in the 397 road accidents registered in Adyghea this year 100 persons died and 462 were injured. This year the death toll is 9% less than in 2015, but the accident rates in the Maikop, Teuchezhsky and Koshekhabl rayons have grown.
According to Rechitsky, photo and video surveillance of violations of the traffic rules is developing in Adyghea with the assistance of the Republican leadership. Currently, there are 28 CCTV systems functioning on the roads in Adyghea. “Our road problems have continuously remained the same: night street racing, drunk drivers, lack of pounds in the municipalities, overspeed, and low quality of instruction at driver’s schools,” noted Head of Republic Aslan Tkhakushinov.
Republican Prosecutor Vasili Poslovsky called on to exact road penalties more actively, by applying such measures as revocation of driving licence and seizure of property.
