Cyprus has a developed overland transport, and its convenient air and sea communications let passengers travel fast and comfortably anywhere in the world.

Marios Demetriades, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works:

“Cyprus is an island surrounded by seas, so let me begin with water communications. We have a well-organized shipping transport. Presently Cyprus is among Top 10 countries with the biggest fleet worldwide, and the third biggest fleet in the EU. This fact plays a significant role in our national economy: many shipping companies have chosen Cyprus as the location of their headquarters.

“Another important part of activity of our Ministry is cooperation with air companies. Currently there are about 40 air carriers working in Cyrpus. “The [Russian] S7 Airlines, as a co-founder of a Cypriot airline is to be issued a local license in January 2017. Then it will be able to fly to all EU countries, pari passu with Cyprus air carriers. “In Cyprus, Open Skies concept is working – including for the Russian airlines. Our main partners are the UK, Russia and Israel; we also work on the revitalization of our cooperation with France and Germany. Although the main transports in Cyprus are ships and aircraft, the country’s road network is well developed too, despite the small size of the island.
