Krasnodar, 13 August – Yug Times. Work is continuing to improve Ivan Gudovich Square in the city of Anapa. According to Anapa Mayor Svetlana Maslova, only trees that are severely damaged and pose a threat to pedestrians and vehicles are being removed. Trees in satisfactory condition will be preserved. During the first phase of the landscaping project, covering the section from Lenin Street to Cherno morskaya Street, 29 hazardous trees were identified for removal.
The second phase, from Chernomor skaya Street to Ivan Golubets Street, has revealed a further 92 hazardous trees. Most are 60–70-year-old honey locusts with cavities, cracks, dead tops and other signs of structural deterioration.
"Many of the trees in the square are around 70 years old, so the area's green spaces need to be renewed and restored to good health. Pruning and rejuvenation work on healthy trees is scheduled for the autumn," Svet lana Maslova said. "The main aim of the landscaping project is to make the square safe, preserve its green character and create a comfortable public space for Anapa's residents and visitors.
