Krasnodar, 5 May – Yug Times. The Mayor's Office and residents of Sochi’s Central District have reportedly discussed plans for improving urban spaces and local commerce. The Central Territorial Public Self-Management Area encompasses 15 streets, 4 alleys, 86 high-rise apartment buildings, and 48 detached homes. Within the district, parks and public gardens have been upgraded, and the flowerbed-calendar on Gorki Street has been renewed. More than 1,000 flowers and shrubs, as well as around 140 palm trees, have been planted. "Local residents are actively involved in the development of their neighbourhood," said Sochi’s Mayor, Andrei Proshunin.
"In 2026, they initiated the urban improvement project at the intersection of Konstitutsii and Yunykh Lenintsev Streets, which won the city’s participatory budgeting competition. We aim to create a comfortable walking zone for Sochi residents and guests by the end of this year, meeting urban accessibility standards."
Currently, work is underway to ensure the sanitary condition of waste container areas and surrounding spaces. To date, 146 offenders who illegally dumped waste have been held administratively accountable.
