Krasnodar, 9 April – Yug Times. Authorities in Novorossiysk have proposed the creation of a secondary vocational education campus in the city to address growing labour shortage. The initiative was discussed at a working meeting led by Mayor Andrei Kravchenko, alongside the deputy mayor, heads of relevant departments, and Denis Kuzenkov, CEO of the Krasnodar Region Development Corporation.
The proposal is driven by mounting pressure on the labour market. As a major transport, industrial and agri cultural hub, Novorossiysk continues to expand and modernise its production base, increasing the demand for skilled workers. As of 2026, nearly 1,600 vacancies for manual and technical professions remain unfilled in the city, while across the Krasnod ar region the figure exceeds 15,000.
At the same time, training capacity remains limited, and neighbouring municipalities do not offer vocational programmes in key trades such as concrete work, bricklaying, tractor operation and machining. The planned regional campus would integrate educational, scientific and industrial resources, enabling the training of specialists for the entire region, expanding retraining programmes and improving overall education quality.
