Krasnodar, 24 March – Yug Times. Work is under way to lay the top asphalt layer on Novorossiysk Highway in Sochi.
Preparations are also in progress to install new street lighting, while exits off the main road are repaired. Kerbs are laid for a pedestrian pavement, and poles for road signs are installed.
“We understand how important it is to create a safe and comfortable link between Sochi’s key districts, which is why I am personally overseeing the project. All stages are currently on schedule,” said Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin.
The works, funded by regional and municipal budgets, cost more than 440 million roubles and are due to be completed by the start of the peak tourist season. City authorities expect the alternative route to ease congestion on the A-147 federal highway and pro vide residents of Matsesta and Khosta neighbourhoods with a reliable, modern route for daily commutes.
