Krasnodar, 15 Jamuary – Yug Times. Sochi accounted for more than half of Krasnodar Krai’s resort and tourism services last year.

The tourism sector remains one of the key pillars of the city’s economy. At the same time, retail trade generates more than 50% of Sochi's total economic output. The resort city’s contribution to the region’s overall retail turnover is approximately 14%. The city’s share in the regional transport sector stands at around 4.6%. At the same time, transport accounts for 11% of Sochi’s economy.

“Sochi remains the undisputed leader of the region’s resort and tourism industry, providing around 54% of Krasnodar Krai’s total resort and tourism services. This year, resorts across the region welcomed 17.4 mil lion tourists, with just under half of them choosing Sochi for recreation and health improvement. Retail trade remains a core sector with traditionally strong performance. We can also highlight the growing role of Sochi’s agriculture — not as a conventional agricultural sector, but as a unique natural and cultural resource that integrates the biodiversity of the sub tropical zone, scientific potential and entrepreneurial initiative,” said Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin.
