Krasnodar, 26 December – Yug Times. Law enforcement officers in the Takhtamukai district have reportedly thwarted an attempted terrorist attack.
The crime was prevented thanks to officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for the Republic of Adygea. The suspect in the attempted attack is a 19-year-old resident of the aul of Novaya Ady geya, who has been detained.
Investigators established that the young man was planning to set up a cell of an international terrorist or ganisation banned in Russia. To this end, he had been actively recruiting residents of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai, while simultaneously preparing to carry out an attack at one of the region’s major shopping malls.
The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for Adygea has opened a criminal case under two articles of the Criminal Code: participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation and preparation for committing a terrorist act. The suspect faces up to 20 years in prison.
