Krasnodar, 13 November – Yug Times. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 1,000 operations for lung cancer treatment have reportedly been performed in the Kuban region.
Every week thoracic surgeons at one of the regional clinical hospitals specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic pathologies perform more than 25 operations. Most lung pathologies are of oncological character.
“Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tumours in the region are carried out under the regional project ‘Fighting Oncological Diseases’ within the national project ‘Long and Active Life.’ Over five years, we have opened 19 outpatient oncology centres, and equipped specialised departments and clinics with more than 800 units of modern equipment,” said the Acting Minister of Health of Krasnodar Krai, Yevgeni Filippov.
According to Filippov, the main diagnostic method is chest X-ray. Up to 12,000 such examinations are carried out per day in the region, and in every second patient a suspected pathology is detected.
