Krasnodar, 7 November – Yug Times. Traffic has resumed across the bridge over the Chemitok ovadzhe River in Greater Sochi.

The overpass, located at kilometre 125 of the federal A-147 highway between Dzhubga and Sochi, near the village of Zubova Shchel, was officially opened to traffic last week according to schedule.

“The bridge lies on a secondary section of the federal road that bypasses Zubova Shchel Gorge close to the village,” the City Hall press service said. “The main route in this area runs via the Zubovsky Viaduct – the tallest road bridge in Russia, commissioned in December 1999. Nonetheless, federal road authorities continue to maintain the old route due to its importance for regional transport infrastructure.”

Major repairs on the Chemitokovadzhe bridge began in September 2024. A new four-span bridge, each span over 20 metres long, was constructed on the site of the old structure. The bridge is equipped with modern energy-efficient lighting, safety barriers, stormwater drain age, and two sewage treatment sections.
