Krasnodar, 5 September – Yug Times. Interest in holidaying in Sochi is growing in Iran, according to the Association of Travel Agents of Russia.
At the same time, the flow of tourists from Iran to Russia remains insignificant so far. It amounts to tens of thousands. The share of Sochi does not exceed 2–3 per cent. “This year we can see interest of Iranian tourists in Sochi.
This is recorded by tour operators. So far, the flow is still very small. The peak of involvement and promotion of Russia happened after the World Cup in 2018, but even then, this flow was about 5 per cent, most of whom were citizens of CIS countries,” explained Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Travel Agents of Russia.
The total tourist flow of foreigners to Sochi in the first quarter of 2024 exceeded 14,000 people, which is about 80 per cent of the total foreign tourist flow for 2023, when the city received 18,000 foreign tourists. The largest number of foreign tourists to Sochi in the first three months of 2024 came from Uzbekistan – 5,600.
