The first international hotel is opened in Krasnodar.Hilton Garden Inn Krasnodar (HGIK) has become the first hotel of the international chain of hotels in Krasnodar and the first hotel by Hilton in Krasnodar Region. General Manager of HGIK, Thomas Wernau, has told "Yug Times” how to grow up to General Manager and why he wasn’t frightened by Russia. Strategy - After reading reviews of your guests at various websites we would like to know what pleases and what disappoints you? - We are glad that we have finally opened the hotel after a long period of construction. According to the reviews the public is quite satisfied with our hotel. The problem is that not everyone understands that Hilton Garden Inn 4* is not Hilton 5* which provides a wider range of services. Therefore people expect more than we can offer. Our guests have a choice. - Do you aim at meeting more needs of your guests?- We're working on it constantly. We train the staff on special programs. Our task is to make check-in and stay at our hotel as comfortable as possible. We try to be more flexible. That is why we search for the staff which is ready to work in the hospitality business and also speaks English. - What qualities should your employees possess? - We pay attention to the readiness of people for work. The experience of a candidate is not so important for us. We will teach them. The main thing is the internal readiness for hospitality and the desire to improve. - What is the motivation for your staff? Is there any prospect for professional growth? - We pay good salaries timely. In addition, we have a system of bonuses, free meals, uniform. Our employees can gain good experience in our hotel. Our company is growing and it provides us an opportunity to promote our employees in other hotels of the holding. Now we have about 100 employees at Hilton Garden Inn Krasnodar. - Why have you decided to build the hotel in Krasnodar? - Today the capital of Kuban is a developing city. Therefore it was decided that Krasnodar will be a favorable environment for the hotel. Moreover Hilton Garden Inn Krasnodar is the first international hotel in the region. Krasnodar needs such hotels as the number of foreign guests is increasing. In addition, the Olympics are coming, and it is clear that the regional center will be full of guests from around the world. - What categories of guests stay at your hotel? - Basically, our guests are businessmen. Some people come for their holidays, weekends. We do not focus on any one category of guests. We welcome everyone. As for the geography of our guests, 70% are Russian and 30% are from various countries. - Weren’t you afraid of working in Russia? What is most surprising in our country? - I worked in Samara, Moscow and Yekaterinburg and only after that I moved to Krasnodar. I think every country is fraught with certain risks and you should understand where you're going. The most surprising fact for me in Russia is that the traffic rules are absolutely not respected here. - Have you been to any other hotels in Krasnodar? - Honestly, I haven’t. We were very busy with the opening of our hotel and did not look at the competitors. Now our goal is to make Hilton Garden Inn be the best hotel in Krasnodar. - Tell us about the work of your Food & Beverage Department. - I regularly check the quality of food.I have lunch in the restaurant at least four times a week, order various dishes. We have a fusion cuisine. By the way, our guests can buy frozen food products at Pavilion Pantry, heat them in the microwave and eat in their rooms. - What is the key of success of the hotel business? - The main secret of success is the professional staff who care about the guests.
