Krasnodar, 14 March – Yug Times. To ensure honest indexation of pensions was one of the key moments of President Vladimir Putin’s recent address to the Federal Assembly.
The Krasnodar region was one of the first Russian regions to react to the President’s orders. Within the context of the pension reform, the pensions were indexed by 7.05% this year. Nevertheless, Mr. Putin stated that if a pensioner’s income exceeded the living wage, his or her social subsidy would be reduced. He stressed that people have all grounds to feel themselves deceived. Now the situation has to be corrected - last week, the Kuban parliamentarians unanimously backed the federal bill determining the amount of the social payment added to the pension.
At the extraordinary session of the Kuban Legislative Assembly held on March 7, the deputies adopted the amendments to the federal law “On state social aid” as regards the amount of the social payment to be added to the pensions of non-working pensioners. Commenting on the adoption of this bill, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said that the social payment will be granted to about 230,000 Kuban pensioners whose monthly income is lower than the living wage.
“Thankful to the President’s decision, they will be able to feel the growth of their pensions,” he stated. “The amount of the social payment will not be changed during the year.” Mr. Kondratiev said that the region will also continue to render aid to the pensioners. The total amount of subsidies to be allocated by the regional budget will be 8.8 billion roubles.
