Krasnodar, 29 November – Yug Times. On the eve of the 15th birthday of the Southern Regional Committee of the European Business Association (SRC EBA), top business and governmental executives of the Krasnodar region are expressing their views about this date.
Igor Galas, deputy governor of the Krasnodar region: “The regional power pays much attention to constant perfection of the [region’s] investment appeal. In this work, we cannot do without the active involvement of public and non-commercial organisations. “I would say that the European Business Association is our longtime reliable partner, with which we have been working for a long while. I would especially emphasise the active and concerned position of the Association and its members in the work on the development of the Strategy of socio-economic development of the Krasnodar region until 2030. The EBA representatives have become active participants of the discussion of development priorities for the region. We reckon that this enthusiasm will last for the entire period of fulfilment of the 2030 Strategy.”
Lubov Popova, chair of the regional Civic Chamber, general director of Gubsky Brickyard Ltd. “The Civic Chamber of the Krasnodar region pays special attention to the issues of economic development of Kuban, because it’s the economic constituent that lets us solve social problems. This is why we have been closely cooperating with the Southern Regional Committee of the European Business Association for many years. “The EBA members are large companies with a well-developed corporate culture based on the principles of the UN Global Compact. By transmitting their commitments to implement universal sustainability principles, the EBA members are forming an advantageous environment for their own development as well as for public development on the whole. “It became obvious that in the Kuban region, the business sector knows how to cooperate with public activists. The result of their cooperation is a large number of jointly accomplished projects. When business and public initiative join their goals and tasks and act together, it is much easier for the authorities to come to meet them.”
Yuri Volkov, chair of the regional Department for Investment and Development of Small and Midsize Businesses: “Presently, 42 international companies operating in south Russia have joined the Committee. Representatives of international business circles take an active part in all key events, forums and exhibitions held in the Krasnodar region and beyond. “I would like to note that the EBA Representative Office in south Russia performs fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Krasnodar regional administration as regards the improvement of the local investment climate. SRC EBA members are active participants of sessions of the Commission on improvement of investment climate in the Krasnodar region and the Consultative council on international investments operating under the aegis of the regional administration.”
Vasili Shvets, deputy governor of the Krasnodar region: “Of course, the European Business Association plays an important role in the formation and development of the Kuban investment climate. “Firstly, it’s a good illustration of the fact that the Krasnodar region corresponds to the Western business standards. When they begin to work in our region, the management and the staff of [international] companies don’t have to be facing a completely opposite or ‘alien’ corporate culture, which is a significant advantage in the process of decision-taking on the side of Western business. “Secondly, the EBA is another link in our relations with our business partners. Certainly, we constantly work on the perfection of the regional legislation, and improvement of other aspects of the investment climate. But at the same time, we constantly monitor the feedback to be able to understand how much our work meets the expectations of the business circles and world trends on the whole. We closely cooperate with the EBA in this process.”
Ralf Bendisch, CLAAS Russia general director: “In Russia, the European Business Association has only two [representative] Committees: in St. Petersburg and in the Krasnodar region. This fact proves a peculiar significance of Kuban as an investment attractive region. “CLAAS management took the decision to open a plant in the Krasnodar region only after the consultation with the EBA members that had by then invested in the region. We continue to share our experience and help each other – now as colleagues. “The member companies of the EBA Southern Regional Committee accomplish all their business projects in cooperation with Krasnodar city and regional authorities. The Consultative council on international investment chaired by the governor plays a big role in this activity. “The EBA SRC is much more than merely business cooperation of international companies in the Kuban region: it is friendship!”
Rashid Kudaev, head of the Representative Office of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives in the Southern Federal District: “The presence of the European Business Association in the city of Krasnodar is a quality mark for potential international investors. Every foreign investor consults with the existing business companies. In this respect, the EBA Southern Regional Committee is a reliable source of information. “The SRG EBA is based on the local business community that takes an active part in the development of the Strategy for socio-economic development of the Krasnodar region, consults local authorities on attraction and subsequent accompaniment of investors on most useful and sought-after kinds of governmental support of investors. The Consultative council on international investments that works under the aegis of Kuban governor and consists mainly of SRG EBA members, has for many years been showing its efficiency.
