Krasnodar, 29 November – Yug Times. The Popular Front activists have reportedly carried out a sweep of Krasnodar streets - and they got horrified by what they saw there: dozens of buildings officially referred to as historic heritage were found in totally dire straits. Then the State Duma deputy Natalia Kostenko initiated the formation of an interdepartmental workgroup reporting to Krasnodar Mayor and consisting of all interested parties: executives of the regional Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage, city administration, supervising agencies, architects, experts, and public activists.
According to Department Head Roman Semikhatsky, it is the historic buildings with the façades opening up to the city’s central promenade streets that are kept in decent condition; mostly, these buildings are owned by commercial structures that spend much money to keep them attractive.
However, there are many architectural monuments with complicated fate in Krasnodar. One of them is the longsuffering ‘Residential house of architect Kosiakin’ at 13, Kondratenko street, that needs urgent repairs. Meanwhile, such historic buildings as the house built in 1913 at 28, Kozhevennaya street, or the office of the Association of Fight against Beggary built in 1911 at 46, Kozhevennaya street have totally disappeared - and nobody knows who and when destroyed them.
This year, the regional authorities decided to motivate the investors and offered a privileged rental fee for the potential users: one rouble a year. At the same time, the lessee should fulfil a number of requirements, of which the most important is the reconstruction and maintenance of the authentic appearance of the building.
