Krasnodar, 28 November – Yug Times. Many people know endocrinologist Olga Shumskaya - not only in Goriachy Kluch where she lives and works, but in other Kuban cities. Recently she developed a special program to treat obesity that helped many patients begin a new life without hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases.
In due time, Olga was offered several contracts - in Germany, the USA or Australia, but the young physician got married and joined her husband to the Murmansk region, beyond the Polar Circle. There she worked as a general practitioner at the polyclinics of the metallurgical works. There were labour camps nearby; nearly a half of the local dwellers had criminal records. So, very different people became her patients.
After working several years as a general practitioner, Olga understood that she had to continue studying.
“I saw that many young women could not have children because of endocrinologist problems, so I decided to master this speciality,” she recalls.
After ten years in the Murmansk region, Olga Shumskaya together with her family came to Goriachy Kluch, where she opened her own consulting room and took up private practice.
“Lately, I have been receiving more and more overweight patients sent by general practitioners who thought that they had problems with the thyroid gland,” she says. “However, the analyses showed that only 10 - 15% of them had problems with the endocrine system, while the rest had problems with obesity due to incorrect diet and sedentary life.”
That was how Olga Shumskaya began to develop individual programs to reduce weight, because there is no ideal remedy for losing weight that would fit all.
