Krasnodar, 23 November – Yug Times. Last week, Krasnodar played host to the final round of the Cossack Youth Sports Games.
The event summoned 70 teenagers from all over Kuban that represented Cossack classes of secondary schools and Cossack military schools. Before the finals, the kids had already demonstrated their skills and proved that they were the best in their respective Cossack divisions.
The competition was really tough: say, the winner in disassembling and assembling of the machine-gun was just several milliseconds ahead of his closest follower. The record time - 17.46 seconds - was shown by Sergei Ustich, a student of School No. 2 in Kanevskaya and representative of the Yeisk Cossack Division. It was indicative that he was not surprised by his result and said that he could have done it even faster – his personal record was 15.21 seconds. Danila Danilov from Kropotkin Cossack Corps was the best marksman in knife-throwing.
In the end, the best team-scoring average was achieved by the team of the Yeisk Cossack Division. A bit earlier, similar results were shown by their elder tutors – the adult Cossacks from Yeisk won the traditional Cossack sports competitions held in Vyselki.
At the end of the contest, Protopriest Ioann Voronov addressed the young athletes. He recounted a parable about a disciple that was holding a butterfly in his hands and asked his mentor to advise him whether to let it go or kill it. The teacher uttered just one phrase: “All is in your hands.”
