Krasnodar, 1 November – Yug Times. Last Saturday, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin reportedly discussed with Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev the progress of the liquidation of the consequences of the extraordinary situation caused by heavy downpours.
The meeting held in Sochi was attended by Minister of Emergency Situations Yevgeni Zinichev. President ordered that Governor and Minister should render all necessary aid to the sufferers of the recent flood. He promised support from the federal budget, if such necessity would arise.
“Regretfully, the infrastructure got considerably ruined,” Mr. Putin stated. “We must assess the volume of losses and determine the volume and the addressees of the help. Report me if any additional help would be needed.”
The heavy rains that fell on October 24 and 25 led to the submergence of 29 settlements with the population of more than 5,000 people in the Tuapse and Apsheronsk districts, and Greater Sochi. Altogether, 2,365 houses got inundated.
