Krasnodar, 25 October – Yug Times. Andrei Korobka, Vice Governor of the Krasnodar region:
“No other Russian region can compete with the [product] assortment that is at the disposal of the Kuban farmers. We have diverse meat and cheese dainties, seafood, any fruit and vegetables - even lemons - nearly all year round.
“I am confident that our farmers won’t stop on that, and they will be growing qualitatively every year. And the regional power will support everything that gives a move forward.
“Governor Veniamin Kondratiev puts forward a task to give maximum possible support to farmers, to help them be competitive. To unite them in agricultural cooperatives, so that their products should be available throughout the country, and not only in our region. For this purpose, substantial money is allocated, and efficient financing programs and mechanisms are developed. Just this year, about 1.3 billion roubles have been spent to support the development of small businesses in the Kuban region. And if we reckon all other money that has been allocated, the total amount of state support would equal to 7.5 billion roubles. Nonetheless, state support can never be too much, and if we had had a chance to allocate more, we would of course have done it.
“Our farmers get substantial support both on the federal and regional levels. It can’t be otherwise, for agriculture feeds the nation and supplies the export that brings profit to the nation.
“It’s the efficiency of the state financing - for the farmers and for the region on the whole - that has to be taken into most consideration. It’s a very important moment that Governor Veniamin Kondratiev has for more than once emphasised on. We do understand that governmental financing is, first of all, the money of taxpayers - and one should make the most efficient use of it. Every rouble invested from the budget must return in twofold.”
