Krasnodar, 12 September – Yug Times. The Kuban Cossack Host Ataman Nikolai Doluda has visited the secondary school No. 43 in Kholmskaya, Abinsk district, that nearly ten years ago was granted the status of a Cossack comprehensive school.
Cossack Ataman was interested to see the educational routine of a Cossack school. Last year, it had 15 Cossack classes with 345 students. This year, all 29 classes, i.e. 690 students, will study according to the peculiar curriculum based on Cossack traditions. All these transformations came true thankful to School Headmistress Svetlana Kanunnikova.
“We live in a Cossack village, and we must not forget our background,” Ms. Kanunnikova said during Ataman Doluda’s visit. “With our students, we work in two directions: military-patriotic and spiritual-moral. In this framework, our students study the traditions, culture and history of the Kuban Cossacks.” A group of kindergarten pupils clad in traditional costumes performed a Cossack song for the visitors.
“These kids from the Cossack kindergarten class will go to our Cossack school. They will continue to study Cossack habits and traditions, and when graduating they will be well-formed young Cossacks,” Mr. Doluda noted. “They are the future of our region, and the future of our country. By learning at kindergarten what friendship and fellowship are, they will learn about their fatherland and patriotism, and feel the necessity to defend these values.”
Ataman Doluda confessed that he got a mighty charge of energy, but what was most important was that he saw the kids’ eyes shine.
