Krasnodar, 7 September – Yug Times. In his last week’s address to Russian citizens, President Vladimir Putin noted that the pension reform should not be delayed, because any postponement may lead to hard economic and social consequences. The state budget currently has the money that may suffice to index pensions in the nearest 7 to 10 years, but not more.
In his address, Mr. Putin proposed to reduce women’s retirement age from 63 down to 60 years.
“The [current] draft proposes to increase the women’s retirement age for eight years, while the men’s age is to be increased for five years only,” he said. “That won’t do, of course.” President put forward several other ideas that may soften the bill. The United Russia party, whose majority made it possible to adopt the document in the first reading, has already backed all these initiatives.
