Krasnodar, 31 August – Yug Times. A branch of the Kuban Young Cossack League is to be opened in Abkhazia. Last week, Vice Governor, Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Host Nikolai Doluda and Russia’s Ambassador to Abkhazia Aleksei Dvinianin discussed the prospects for the Cossack youth movement in Abkhazia. In Mr. Doluda’s opinion, the Cossacks from Sukhumi should build up closer relations with the Abkhazian leadership and public organisations. As far as the Krasnodar region is concerned, it may help organise Cossack classes at schools and a branch of the local Cossack youth movement.
“It was the Abkhazian Cossacks who initiated opening of a branch of the [Kuban Cossack] League [in their region],” Ataman Doluda stressed. Mr. Dvinianin backed the initiative and stated that it would be important for the Abkhazian Cossacks to take over the positive experience of the Kuban Cossack Host’s activities in the Krasnodar region.
The participants of the meeting agreed to cooperate to help jointly resolve the issues of development of the Cossack movement in Abkhazia. As part of such activities, participation of Kuban and Abkhazian Cossacks in different forums, festivals and conferences was announced.
