Krasnodar, 10 August – Yug Times. The federal road from Dzhubga to Sochi may be reconstructed for 1.2 trillion roubles. Instead of the current lacet road, the construction of a new four-lane highway has been proposed. Its length would be 119.5 km, with the design speed of 120 km/h. Thereby, it would take an hour only to get from Dzhubga to Sochi.
The idea of the new highway was recently presented by Rosavtodor (Federal Road Agency). According to the project, three detours would be built at the cost of the state-private partnership: of Tuapse, Lazarevskoe and Sochi, at 500 billion roubles each. Another 700 to 800 billion would have to be invested in the construction of 80-km-long connecting sectors.
However, Russian Ministry of Transport announced that such construction would be pointless. They said that according to preliminary technical and financial assessments, the project would be too capital-intensive. Bearing in mind the inflation, the total cost would most likely reach 1.6 trillion roubles.
