Krasnodar, 26 July – Yug Times. Krasnodar is getting prepared to two weeks of another traffic collapse.
Last week, the Mayor’s Office announced that the Yablonovsky Bridge will be closed from August 4 until 20. Currently, dozens of thousands of vehicles drive along this bridge, plus 13 routes of public transport connecting Krasnodar with the settlements in Adyghea and the Seversky district.
The city’s Department for Transport and Road Facilities insisted that the repair works cannot be delayed, because the expansion seams of the bridge are in dire straits, so that very soon it would be dangerous to drive along the bridge.
“This year, we once again examined the Yablonovsky Bridge,” Department head Vladimir Arkhipov said. “The experts found six expansion seams that are important to preserve the bridge safe in conditions of temperature fluctuations, in unusable state.”
The new whole seams have already been ordered, which was why it was decided to fully stop the traffic rather than organize reverse motion, like it had been done earlier when the Turgenevsky Bridge was repaired. The estimated price of the works is nearly 7.7 million roubles, to be spent by Krasnodar city administration. The neighbouring Adyghea will not take part in the financing of the project.
