Krasnodar, 27 June – Yug Times. Vice Governor Anna Minkova has reportedly presided over the first meeting of the organizing committee on holding of the Volunteer’s Year.
“The Krasnodar region is a national leader in the number of participants of volunteer movement,” said Ms. Minkova. “It has become a mighty and strong association that unites 22,000 people.”
She stressed that Kuban volunteers have taken part not only in such significant events as the Winter Olympic Games or the World Cup. A great number of them have worked for other events.
“The most important thing is that volunteers have become imbued with an idea that volunteership is a social mission,” she stated. “Big events are important, and the Krasnodar region is the place that will be hosting them on a regular basis. But today it’s necessary for the volunteers to work in our social environment.”
She noted that volunteers actively cooperate with the charity fund “The Land of Kindness”, render aid to war and labour veterans, ill children and seniors.
