Krasnodar, 8 May – Yug Times. Turkish Airlines, a world-known air company, is reportedly putting Krasnodar on its flights map. Krasnodar has become the company’s tenth destination in Russia and the 303rd worldwide. The first Turkish Airlinesbranded aircraft landed at Krasnodar’s Pahkovsky Airport on 7 May. It was welcomed with a traditional water arch and festive mood.
The new flight to Istanbul will open a lot of tourist, business and economic opportunities for the Kuban capital. Speaking at the flight-opening ceremony, Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Marketing Officer of Turkish Airlines, stressed that the company flies to 121 countries and 303 cities. “We are the only air company that serves so many destinations,” said Mr. Olmuştur. Such extensive flight map is explained by the fact that Istanbul has for a long time been known as a major international hub connecting opposite corners of the world. Giving Krasnodar an opportunity to be on the list will improve the city’s investment appeal.
“Now it is the best time to launch direct flights from Krasnodar to the biggest hub in Turkey,” noted Yunus Emre Özigci, Consul General of Turkey in Novorossiysk. “Turkey and Russia have announced the commencement of many important projects, and availability of direct flights between the two countries’ cities is important to have them realized.” In Mr. Özigci’s opinion, Turkish Airlines’ flights to Krasnodar will become the bridge uniting one of the most important Russian regions and Istanbul, and improving the level of trade and economic partnership.
Flights from Krasnodar will land in Istanbul at 6:30 am five times a week, and the passengers will be able to leave for other destinations without delay – nearly all most popular flights to the USA and Europe take off from Istanbul before noon. “We expect Germany to be the main continuation of the flights for the passengers from Krasnodar,” stated Mr. Ahmet Olmuştur. “We fly to 13 German cities.”
During the nearest months, Turkish Airlines plans to serve about 5,000 passengers from Krasnodar. But the company plans not to stop halfway and develop new directions, including in Russia. The company’s aircraft fleet will soon multiply severalfold. One of the new destinations the company plans to open this year will be the Comoro Islands. It will become the 122nd country on the Turkish Airlines’ flight map.
