Krasnodar, 4 May – Yug Times. What stays behind the recent arrests of the governmental officials responsible for the construction industry, and the managers of unfair construction companies?
Detention of a number of high-rank Krasnodar and Sochi city officers has become a real information bomb in our region that has for a long time been known as the national ‘leader’ as regards the number of deceived flat owners and unauthorized construction sites. As far as the official information on the criminal cases initiated against Krasnodar Chief Architect Igor Mazurok and Sochi Deputy Mayor Mugdin Chermit is rather inadequate, local public activists continue to guess what stood behind these arrests.
“In the global sense, the latest resignation and arrests have become the result of the purge of the municipal administrations from the executives that favoured unfair constructors,” said political analyst Aleksandr Topalov. “This work was initiated by the governor’s team and law enforcement offices with the advice and consent of the federal centre. Saying more precisely about the municipalities, it is quite logical. Krasnodar and Sochi are the biggest [municipalities], consequently the problems occurring in their construction sector are also the biggest.”
Topalov also noted that both governmental officers and concrete business managers were arrested. “[Thereby] part of the flat owners would get satisfaction,” said he. “The luckiest ones may even reckon that their dwelling issue would be resolved at the cost of the arrested assets. Undoubtedly, not all of them will get their flats, but in the future such loud detentions may help overcome the [dire] situation in the region’s construction sphere.”
