Krasnodar, 26 April – Yug Times. The Krasnodar Racecourse opened a new season Sunday. The opening event had a historical pretext - the first official horserace was held in the Kuban region 150 years ago. Much has changed since then - most importantly, a manifold infrastructure of the modern sport industry has appeared and gained international recognition. The regional budget backs the industry - this year, 29 million roubles were assigned to run studhorse tests, 400,000 roubles more than last year.
The increase is well justified: this year’s horserace season will be the longest in the country and consist of 22 days. “We are adding three horserace days to be held at the new racecourse in Pavlovsky rayon,” stated Vice Governor Andrei Korobka. “Last year it was accredited to hold horse tests.” The first race at the new arena will be held on May 12. Before that day, the races will be held at the Krasnodar Racecourse. Horse breeding is a prestigious trade.
The breeders spare no money to bring up genuine champions. Some horses from Kuban have become nationally renowned, like stallion Konard Lord from Pavlovsky rayon that won the last year’s main race for the prize of the Russian President. Last Sunday, Konard Lord and several dozen other best horses were given the honour of opening the 2018 horserace season. Twelve heats determined twelve winners to share the prize fund of 1.1 million roubles.
