Krasnodar, 12 April – Yug Times. The Novorossiysk Transport Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly approved the bill of indictment on the criminal case on submersion of the Geroi Arsenala ship that occurred in April 2017.
The prosecutors found the missing Captain accused of the crime worded as violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of maritime and inland water transport that caused by negligence death of two or more people.
According to the files of the case, Captain broke the traffic safety rules by failing to remove the vessel from the storm area into a shelter. As a result, on 19 April, 2017 the Geroi Arsenala dry cargo ship wrecked and foundered 19 sea miles off Cape Zhelezny Rog near the Taman Peninsula. Out of the 12 crew members (9 Ukrainians, 2 Russians and 1 Georgian), only one was rescued.
