Krasnodar, 28 February – Yug Times. An exhibition of archaeological artefacts found in Sochi before the 2014 Olympic Games has opened in the city.
The exposition “Myths and Truth about Sochi’s Gold” demonstrates about 300 artefacts of the national historical and cultural heritage — household objects, arms, jewellery, and architectural details of fortresses and temples. Most of the findings were excavated from the construction sites of future Olympic objects in 2007-2013. Then the diggings revealed a number of unknown archaeological objects referred to various historical epochs - from Palaeolith to the late Middle Ages — settlements, grave mounds, temples and fortresses.
The highlight of the exposition is the collection of ancient golden decorations from a female grave in Loo, found by chance in 1960 during the construction of the Magadan holiday hotel.
