Krasnodar, 2 February – Yug Times. The Federal Tourism Agency has published the list of hotels that are charging too high a price during the forthcoming World Cup. The list of overpriced facilities includes a couple of Kuban hotels as well.
Our expert Irina Pozhidaeva, Director General of Kurort Ekspertiza (Resort Examination) Company, comments on the hoteliers’ appetites: “Hotels as service-rendering establishments are subject to the competence of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare, which analyzes the observance of the hotel prices set for the period of 2018 World Cup. They have all tools to control and put pressure on the hotels that do not want to keep to the rules.”
“Undoubtedly, the state wants such activity to be held on high level and aimed at fans and athletes rather than at earning of super-profits. Inadequate prices may scare away the guests, and the hotels would hardly be able to sell their rooms at such prices. According to our information, the Consumer Protection Service is currently monitoring the hotel prices offered, and issues administrative orders to the ‘defaulters’. So far, they may correct their fault without a fine or other unpleasant consequences.”
