Krasnodar, 30 January – Yug Times. Twelve athletes from the Krasnodar region have received invitations to take part in the Winter Olympics to be shortly held in the Republic of Korea: bobsledders Maksim Andrianov, Aleksandra Rodionova, Aleksei Zaitsev and Vasili Kondratenko; curlers Yulia Portunova, Galina Arsenkona and Yulia Guzieva; freestylers Alina Gridneva and Yekaterina Stoliarova; figure skaters Natalia Zabiyako and Aleksandr Enbert; and snowboarder Sofia Fedorova. They will be competing under the neutral Olympic flag.
Besides, the Swiss Sport Arbitration Court is currently considering cases of other seven athletes from the Kuban region, accused of anti-dope violations.
The regional authorities announced that in case of success the athletes will be rewarded monetary prizes: 2 million roubles for a gold medal, 1.5 million for silver, and 1 million for a bronze medal. The athletes who will occupy the places from 4th to 8th will get 500,000 roubles; the others will be given 250,000 roubles.
