Krasnodar, 26 December – Yug Times. Last week, the regional Prosecutor Sergei Tabelsky held a meeting with Kuban journalists.
The questions raised during the meeting had to do with the problems of deceived owners of apartments, the levels of corruption and criminalization in the region, observance of environmental laws, interests of entrepreneurs, and others.
“The construction industry accumulates huge money that always attracts criminal elements,” noted Mr. Tabelsky. He informed his interviewers of the measures taken to restore citzens’ rights. Over the past three years, the losses caused by criminal activities reportedly exceeded 5 billion rubles, and after the investigations the total sum grew to 7 billion rubles. Over 7,000 persons were acknowledged victims of these crimes. “Our task is to find those guilty and understand the cases,” said Mr. Tabelsky.
The number of corruption crimes revealed in 2017 reached 827. Over 260 bribetakers were convicted. The average amount of a bribe in the region was 374,700 rubles, and the maximum sum detected was 3.9 million rubles (this was the sum received by an ex employee of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources for unlawful assistance in the entitlement to use mineral resources.
