Krasnodar, 15 November – Yug Times. A railway detour of Krasnodar will reportedly be built by the end of 2018. The project is aimed at development of suburban railway traffic.
The construction of the railway detour began in 2017. According to the plans, freight trains will bypass Krasnodar en route from Kozyrki station near Korenovsk to Grechanaya at Timashevsk.
Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov was quoted as commenting on the issue that the detour is of strategic importance for the city: “It will open up new opportunities for transport development of Krasnodar.”
According to Mikhail Shcherbakov, Deputy Director of the Krasnodar branch of the North Caucasus Railways, the railways are being laid ahead of schedule, so the project may be accomplished within less than two years.
The detour of Krasnodar will be a double-track 69-km-long electrified railway, with several new stations, bridges, overpasses and highway crossings.
Then the railways inside the city of Krasnodar may be used to the benefit of the city. One of probable solutions is development of a suburban train network.
